Spotlight Artist at Gecko Galz

Spotlight Designer for May

Hi everyone, I hope that you are all doing well and safe from
the stormy weather that we've had the past week. Maybe May
will bring beautiful sunny days!

I'm excited to tell you that I am the Spotlight designer for
Gecko Galz this month. Gecko Galz sales digital paper packs
and images that are just stunning. New product come out the
first of each month and always include something perfect for
an upcoming holiday or special event. I've also complete a
questionnaire that lets you know a little more about my
paper crafting adventures. One of the questions asked what
my favorite scrap store is other than Gecko Galz.
My local store is call Impressive Ideas and is located in Roswell, Ga.
Just click on the icon on the sidebar for a peek!

I love altering journals so I used this beautiful paper and
image to transform a black and white composition book into
something a bit prettier that I would love to use everyday.
You can hop over to Gecko Galz web site, GeckoGalz.com
for the material list and instructions.

Fairy Card
I used the adorable Fairy stamp to make this card for a friend.
Again the details are on the Gecko Galz site.

Gecko Galz Cross Promotion

Each month Gecko Galz has a promotion with another company and we
use both products to create something new. This month we were
paired with "Vintage by Me" and their images are amazing.
For this card I used the bird image from "Vintage by Me" and
the paper from Gecko Galz and they are perfect together.

I love tags and Gecko Galz' May images and paper were
made for each other. I love the soft feminine look.
I made 3 tags, well actually I made many more
but here are just a few of them.

Be sure to visit GeckoGalz.com for the materials list and
instruction for all of the creations shown.

DESIGN TEAM SPOTLIGHT MEMBER......STARR TIMMONS

This month our Design team spotlight is on the very talented paper artist Starr Timmons. Here work is a cross between romantic vintage and shabby chic and I am sure you will agree she is a very talented lady. Here is a bit about her!
How long have you been paper crafting?
Around 10 or 12 years ago I began playing with paper. I remember a friend asking me to come over to scrapbook and I thought "how boring".  Wow, how wrong was I!!!!
What is your favorite kind of projects to do?
The projects that I enjoy most are multi-dimensional. I like creating altered art, wall hangings , and other 3D items.  Card making is also a joy. It's what I do to get away from it all and relax.
In the industry who do you most admire and why?
When I think of all the "Paper Crafting Stars" I don't have one that stands out above another.  The creativity that goes into making a line of product is mind boggling. I admire the entire team that sees to the product from designing to delivery. I must say that I do have a great admiration for the women who have stepped out and become leaders in the industry.
What brands (besides Gecko Galz) do you enjoy working with?
I love my Tim Holtz Vagabond and the Spellbinder dies.  I think Maja Design and Pion paper are gorgeous and perfect for Shabby Chic.
What is the one thing in your crafting tote that you cannot live without?
What can I not live without...it has to be my tweezers. I use them constantly.
Where have you been published?
I've been published in Flying Unicorn's Digital Magazine.
What is the best thing about being on the Gecko Galz Design team?
Okay, this is not a fair question, how can you put "the" best thing when there are so many!  I love working with Leanne, she is creative, patient, and a great business woman.  Getting to work with Gecko Galz products is a dream, the images are amazing with endless uses and I can't stop without saying what a joy it is to design with such incredible women. Their creative talents are amazing!
What is your favorite scrapbook shop and where is it located?
My favorite scrapbook shop, Impressive Ideas, is in Roswell, GA.  It is locally owned and when I walk in I feel like I've gone home! Love it!
Impressive Ideas
32 Magnolia Street
Roswell, GA 30075
678-352-0575
How would you describe your crafting style?
Evolving. I love many styles but two stand out to me, Shabby Chic, it makes me feel girly, and altered art because it gets my heart pumping. I get excited about projects that I can change an object  into something different and new.
If you could have a job in the crafting world what would it be and why?
To be an artist where my only job was to create would be my dream job.  I would love to work with many different mediums and have many projects going at one time. I love painting with oil but I also like to get my hands on paper, cloth and medal.  I'm afraid that someone else would have to keep the business running, that's not where my talents lie!
Share your blog site:
Any last words for our friends and followers?
Just a couple of thoughts, try to keep a journal or write on your scrapbook pages or other creations so not only you, but family members will know what and who you are featuring, future generations will love your information more than you know.
Secondly, enjoy what you are doing. Find your style or styles and have fun creating memories.

Happy New Year!

Wow! Is time really going by so fast or is it that I'm just wanting it to slow down now that I'm retired!  I was thinking about all the wonderful things that happened during 2013 and thought that I would list them to remind me that life can be wonderful.

Every 2 or 3 weeks I go to my Dad's and visit. Since my Mom died a few years ago I try to visit, clean and do some cooking for him (although I'm a terrible cook!) We have spent hours talking about when he was little and when I was little. He has told me things about Mom and him that I never knew . The secrets are exposed!

We talked about religion and our faith. It has been wonderful to share time with Dad and learn so much from him in such a short time.

In April my step-daughter had our 1st grandchild, Logan. What a joy he is and of course very smart and wonderfully handsome. He has a great personality and is a joy to be around.

My step-son moved back home from Arizona in Oct.  He has been living with us and although we all had adjustments to make, he has been a delight. Today he came home from work and talked about moving to his own place. I cried! I never thought that would happen, crying because one of the kids was leaving!!! Anyway, he wants to go back to college so maybe he will stay a little longer to help out with his bills.

A few months ago one of my best friends found out that she had pancreatic cancer and that it had spread to a lymp node and a spot on her lung. Okay, you are wondering way I would write this as a wonderful thing...she had her scan Monday to see if the chemo was helping and what amazing news, the tumor is almost gone, just a shadow there now and the other spots are gone or almost gone. She has another round of chemo coming but God is so good! There is no better way to start the new year.

I hope that you can find the fantastic moments as well as the ones that bring us to our knees and know that whatever the situation, God is with us.

Now for some more great news... GECKO GALZ has some fabulous images and paper for you to use while making those gorgeous greeting cards, jewelry or other paper crafts. This year will be no exception, Gecko Galz with provide the best quality and a great variety of images to use in your projects.

Go the Gecko Galz and see all of the new products and the design teams samples using the January goodies. Below are a few projects of my own that I made using the new January 2014 products. Enjoy and visit the other teams sites for a little help getting the creative juices going.
